O Cebreiro

The day started with sun. We headed out of the city and walked a cool walk through the mountain valleys. Stopped for coffee. We said hi to some kittens cuddling for warmth. Once the sun was high we warmed up quickly. The old sheepdog just baked in the sun shirking his duties.

Most of the day was a slightly uphill walk in the sunshine until we hit the town of Las Herrerias. At that point, the climb was steep and long. It was the second biggest elevation gain short of the Pyrenees on day 1.

To prep for the climb we stopped for a beer and a sandwich to fuel the climb. About 10 of us headed out from the restaurant together. I set the mood music to “Rocky” to get the blood pumping. Funny how EVERY language could identify with the theme song.

The views on the climb were again spectacular.  Reaching the top we found the marker signaling we entered Galatia, the last region of the Camino!

On entering town I spotted Dueter and Sabine. We connected for dinner, closed down the restaurant, and called it a day.
