The road to Hontanas

Leaving Burgos I was fortunate to have a little sun to start the day. I took a few pictures on the way out of town given the morning light.  Sunrises and sunsets have been hard to come by so far on the way.

The meseta lies ahead for the next several days. You might read more about it at this travel link. It’s mostly flat and during the rainy season I am finding to be very muddy.

I have been observing the entire walk that the farmland is chock full of rocks. There are so many I wonder how a farmer tills the land.

Walking through a very small village I encountered many beautiful paintings on the side of the buildings. One had a passage that connected with my reflective thoughts of the soil. You will see a reference in one of the pictures and also at the end the slideshow.

Christine and I have passed some of the time on these flats chatting between rain spurts, wind gusts and puddle hopping.  While flat, the wide open spaces are majestic.

The albergue was staffed by an Australian couple. They were great and had cold beer on trap and a kitchen in which full menu items could be ordered. A hot shower and warm room and morning breakfast with coffee made the stay very pleasant.

Buen Camino.
