The Camino de Santiago is traditionally viewed as a route from one’s home doorstep to Santiago, Spain.
My Camino will be traveled purposefully as a pilgrimage during the Christian season of Lent which spans 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter Sunday. Lent is often portrayed as a journey, from one point in time to another point in time. The journey is a process of spiritual growth and presumes movement from one state of being to another state. These 40 days will be a period of prayer and meditation.
As many of you know, I practice this form of prayer and meditation once a quarter for three days. This year is different. Instead of a quarterly retreat, I’ll take a 40-day, 500-mile wilderness walk to facilitate a deeper “movement” between life’s point A and B. My Lenten Camino is a summons to leave my comfort zone, seek spiritual food, and to continue an inner journey.
Holy week in Galatia is the annual commemoration of the Passion of Jesus Christ celebrated by Catholic religious brotherhoods and fraternities that perform penance processions on the streets of almost every Galician town and village during the last week of Lent, the week immediately before Easter. Pictures to follow in the weeks to come.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to take this leave with the support of my Fiancé, friends, family and colleagues.
