Today was an 18 mile segment. I started out earlier than usual at 6 am sporting my headlamp for the first time. Only the two perigrinos photographed in the wee hours were brave enough for pre dawn activity.
The first 8 miles were cool and breezy. The second half presented a few sprinkles as the wind tapered down.
After stopping in at a church Navarrete, I found an English breakfast and some company with a few other pilgrims in search of a break.
There were quite a few sights to see along the way including no shortage of grape vineyards being actively worked. There were many wineries too.
You will see a cross woven into a chain link fence next to the highway. These lined the fence for over a mile.
Artwork lined the path leading up to the town of Ventosa. I would have enjoyed visiting the art shops but most are closed on Mondays.
I concluded the day with a couple of pinchos and a cerveza before calling on the sandman to cure my muscles for the next day’s walk.
